Review

I don’t even like baseball, but man, Chadwick Boseman is THE man. The dignity with which he plays Robinson (who I really respect now, too) is what makes this movie. The “underdog” story of fighting racism in sport progresses terribly fluently with a likeable protagonist and a charismatic supporting cast of Mr. Rickey (Harrison Ford), Rachel Robinson (Nicole Beharie), and Wendell (Andre Holland), alongside the many entertaining Dodgers teammates. Music is great, costumes and direction, and even the accents compliment the overall reality of the scenes and the threats that Jackie faced. Pee-Wee (Lucas Black) said it best, “Maybe one day we’ll all wear 42.” They do now.

Not really spoiler-sensitive.
