Review

I don’t know what it is about unrequited love that makes for just the most dramatic stories, but it seems to be working its magic here as well. Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) is actually a really relatable hero in the sense that he’s really vulnerable, and his chemistry with Alizeh (Anushka Kapoor) was so strong in the first half of the movie that I couldn’t help but feel a strong attraction to her myself. Saba (Aishwarya Rai) and Ali (Fawad Khan) were the supporting cast, and I thought Rai did a pretty great job, but Shah Rukh Khan’s one-scene cameo absolutely stole the show, his lines completely summing up what the movie was about. The dialogue is actually great for the most part, particularly the banter between the characters and the poetry-type scenes. Obviously, music was great, especially the wedding scene. Theme-wise this movie was also really mature, and I was glad that it didn’t have any gimmicky elements that were a staple of this genre. Definitely a solid effort all around.

Not really spoiler-sensitive.
