Review
For a movie that tackled subject matter as heavy as this one did, watching it was considerably easier than one would think. Personally, the anti-tarantino style of historical narration and modification was addictively entertaining, and the plot itself was well crafted. Of course, Hanks' most iconic role is that for a reason, and Forrest Gump is probably one of the most likeable movie protagonists ever - his straightforward demeanor and underdog persona makes rooting for him completely seamless and fulfilling. The subtle musical and theatrical expertise of the crew make this movie what it is, with the narrative style and the opening and closing shots adding an artistic edge to an already thematically sound film. The supporting cast did well, with Lieutenant Dan (Gary Sinise) completing his own meaningful character arc adjacent to Forrest's. Add a couple lines of completely iconic dialogue, and it makes a solid council class movie.
Spoiler Territory
I guess I feel for Jenny, given that she has a tough childhood and all, but Forrest deserved better.
