Review

Think about the two most typecast actors in Hollywood, and put them in the same movie. This movie has Will Smith as Steve and Jeff Goldblum as David as its leads, and it somehow makes both of them seem even more charismatic than they usually are. A supporting cast of Bill Pullman, Randy Quaid as the legend himself, and Margaret Colin as Connie all give great dramatic performances in the tense atmosphere that this movie thrives on. The start is definitely slow, the second act has its gems, but the third act of this movie is one of the best third acts you'll see in action movies. Also the dialogue here is insanely iconic, so shoutout to the writers; for a 2h30 movie to be so rewatchable is definitely a credit.

Spoiler Territory

HELLO BOYS, I'M BAACK. That was definitely awesome, come on. Also THAT presidential speech gave me total goosebumps and won Pullman the movie then and there - man, I wish the US had a president like that. But yeah, Will and Goldblum both do phenomenal jobs with what they're given, and it's a pity they only meet in the third act, because their chemistry in that last scene is so eyecatching. And that final shot with them walking in the desert? Chef's kiss. I'll also never stop laughing at Will Smith punching an alien.
