Review
This movie’s cast was so stacked that pretty much everyone in the world would have to know at least one of them: Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, Katherine Langford, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more. For a two-hour movie, it didn’t ever feel overly boring, but I guess that’s the plus point of detective stories. Christopher Plummer’s Harlan Thrombey started the film out on a really sincere note, and his chemistry with Ana was pretty good to watch. Chris and Ana also carried the middle section of the movie, while Craig held all of it together. There’s enough comedy in it to keep the movie from getting too stale, even if some of it is rather tasteless, but the tone of the film is the real hero, keeping it light hearted through the color palette and dialogue.
Spoiler Territory
Craig may have been a standout acting-wise, but mixed feelings on the accent. Definitely wasn’t the James Bond voice we’ve come to expect from him. The ending wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exactly revolutionary either. Definitely a lot of heart though, and it was great to see Marta (de Armas) come into her own. While the specifics of how may have been a mystery, though, it felt inevitable from the start that she’d come out on top. Overall, I think it is a good watch, especially in recent years, since it fits in with the anti-money-grab message that needs to be heard at the moment.
