Review

So this is where the cup song is from. In middle school it was a really big thing, and I thought my classmates were really just great at percussion, but this makes more sense. So Beca here is cool, since Anna Kendrick refuses to ever play a character awkwardly. There's a quirky mix of characters with Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson), Jesse (Skylar Astin), etc. before quirky became obnoxious. The riff-off scene is iconic, and the song choices are pretty cool for me since early 2010s pop is really my default genre of music. The romance between Beca and Jesse is okay - a little underdeveloped - but the camaraderie within the Bellas is much more prominent and central to the story. It follows the romcom template, except instead of a guy, Beca has relationship issues with her friends. That's basically it. And the last song medley is quite great too.
