Review

So yeah, the music was nice. The scenery was definitely cool. Elizabeth and Darcy (Matthew Macfayden) have some pretty emotional scenes, and Mr. Bennet (Donald Sutherland) and Lady Catherine (Judy Dench) gave some really good performances, for sure. This movie is basically a soap opera, with all the emphasis on marriage and status, even though Elizabeth has some pretty mold-breaking dialogue. A lot of the story is irrelevant to the main plot, and many characters' arcs aren't utilized to their full potential. Also, I'm just not really into this kind of movie, I guess. It does really seem like a “feel-good” kind of romance movie, with some Shakespearean influence, and even though I haven't read the novel by Jane Austen, I believe that the norm is true here: the book is truly better than the movie.
