Review
This movie is like the Pokemon Gold of animation. It's better than the first in that it tones down its brashness while maintaining everything that made the first so original and iconic - the music, the satirical cliche-calling, and the heart. In particular, the characters in this movie were just outstanding. Shrek (Mike Myers), Fiona (Cameron Diaz), and Donkey (Eddie Murphy, who's hilarious) are the mainstays, but The Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders) was so entertaining that I almost gave her the win. Throw in notable character arcs for the King (John Cleese) and Puss in Boots (best character, SO funny) and a host of little fairy tale references, and you definitely have a fun experience. Also apparently Julie Andrews is the Queen, so yay. But yeah, everything is great. Still a little annoying, but that's definitely intentional.
