Review
Not gonna lie, didn't expect this to be any good at all - didn't even bother watching it in the cinema. BIGGEST RIP EVER. Movie smashed everything ever. Miles is a protagonist that you want to root for and be friends with and BE (period). Completely relatable, and still comes off as original. Movie itself is beautiful, and they use the fact that it's animated to their full advantage - lots of frames look like they've been taken straight from the comics. Worth watching purely for the visuals. Soundtrack slapped, but more on that below. Suffice to say, this movie ended the debate about who the best spiderman is - and it's none of the ones that were considered before (sorry Tom Holland, ur cool). Regardless, LOTS of heart, and one for the ages. Only thing that would be cautioned is not to rewatch too frequently, or the emotional impact loses its value.
Spoiler Territory
I don't think there's a single character in the movie that wasn't phenomenal. Villains killed it - Doc Ock was set up wonderfully and was a great variation from the Spiderman 2 “Octavius” dude. Kingpin was intimidating af, and Prowler managed to be believable as both an uncle and an assassin - his death was sad, but it was a great moment for both Miles' and his dad's development, and their relationship. ALL THE SPIDERMEN were iconic AF (exception being the pig, that one falls a little flat). Gwen and Miles had INSANE chemistry in every scene, and both Blonde and Fat Peter were standouts in their own ways. Weirdo spidermen did their job, and the third act did the movie justice. Scene with Miles jumping off the building in the night with music was the best scene, and that's that.
